Rock Cabin is a studio for two people set in park-like grounds in Saxon Switzerland. Built on the annex of a property from the 1930s, the studio sits near the cliff face of an old quarry. A path along the rocks and a few stone-slab steps lead to the glazed front through which you enter the apartment. The 56 square meter room features a sitting area, a dining area, an open kitchen with a concrete counter, as well as a sleeping gallery above the bathroom. The interior design is an international mix: You sleep on a futon placed on Japanese tatami mats, the Butterfly Chairs are Argentinian and the fireplace comes from Denmark. The studio’s broad glass front, which overlooks the surrounding rocky and green forest landscape, creates a sense of being immersed in nature – even with the windows closed. This view across the meadow reaches all the way to your own the private forest.
What to do
On request, a sauna with a small relaxation room can be used in the main house.
Hiking, climbing, canoeing. The arts and cultural cities of Dresden and Prague are easily accessible by train and car. A number of castles, and the nearby Königstein fortress offer special cultural events every season.
Why we like this house
A cool studio amid romantic nature.
