Hotel Das Schgaguler in Südtirol, Kastelruth / IT – Italy

Hotel Das Schgaguler

At the South Tyrolean Schgaguler Hotel in Castelrotto at the foot of the Alpe di Siusi, you can admire the amazing transformation of an 80s building into an elegant modern boutique hotel. The hotel is hardly recognisable and looks like an entirely new building. The three existing buildings have been complemented by an additional attic storey and a uniform facade. The former potpourri of round arches, wooden balconies and turrets has been replaced by a simple and timeless design scheme. The new facade is now refined, bright, linear, with large window fronts and transparent loggia balustrades. The elegant simplicity inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese design continues inside. The rooms and suites are furnished in a minimalist, timeless style with custom-made chestnut wood furniture and selected design classics. The view extends to the Schlern massif, and from the Town Suite you can look through a 13-metre-long glass front directly onto the historic town centre.

The spacious wellness area features two indoor pools, an outdoor whirlpool, a sauna area with a relaxation room and a fitness room. The restaurant serves alpine Mediterranean dishes and – just like the lounge bar – offers magnificent views of the Dolomites.

We had a very nice time here as a family with little children. The owner was exceptionally welcoming with upgrading us to a townhouse and welcome drinks and snacks after a long drive. Very clean, simple, stylish hotel. Service was perfect.
