With their unpretentious, modern timber construction, the three Sindlhauser vacation apartments are reminiscent of Vorarlberg architecture – yet they are located in the middle of idyllic Upper Bavaria, two in Kochel am See and a third in neighboring Benediktbeuern.
The two apartments in Kochel am See, measuring 67 and 69 square meters, are located in the Sindlhauser carpentry building and can be reached via a staircase clad with wooden slats and a covered veranda. They each extend over two floors and have an almost identical open-plan structure: The living rooms with kitchen and dining area are located on the lower level, while the sleeping galleries are located upstairs. The entire interior fittings and furniture were produced in-house – the linear design is accentuated by delicate steel elements and a restrained color scheme. Natural materials such as wood, slate and clay-plastered walls ensure a pleasant indoor climate. The “Wasserwaage” apartment has a covered outdoor seating area in the shed with a view of the nearby mountains, while the “Handhobel” apartment has an east-facing balcony and a window with a panoramic seating area on the gallery.
A new addition is a 60 square meter apartment in the monastery village of Benediktbeuern, which is similar to the other two apartments in its clear design language and simple interior: the open-plan living area with dining area and modern kitchen opens up to the outside with floor-to-ceiling windows. A reading niche offers a panoramic view, as do the wrap-around balcony and the terrace on the south-west side. Whether here or there – nature lovers will find a stylish place for relaxing days.
What to do
Both Kochel am See and Benediktbeuern are located in the foothills of the Upper Bavarian Alps, 65 km south of Munich. The area offers various leisure activities at any time of year - from hiking and skiing to water sports, mountain biking, cycling and golf. The unique moorland landscape invites you to go for walks, the swimming pool and thermal baths promise relaxation and the Benediktbeuern Monastery and the Franz Marc Museum are definitely worth a visit.

On Top: Ausgesprochen nette Vermieter
