The oak tree is the neighbour and namesake of the project, which consists of two holiday apartments located on the first and second floors of a stately, listed building dating from 1913.
Once you have passed through the old oak door and the restored staircase with blue wall tiles and original Art Nouveau glass windows, visitors are greeted on the first floor by the Loft Apartment, a stately holiday home for four people. The spacious main room comprises a living room with a sofa and reading corner, a sleeping area with a double bed and a beautiful English kitchen with an adjoining marble and cork dining table. It is complemented by a second bedroom with a free-standing bathtub and a separate bathroom with a shower and washbasin made of Carrara marble and handmade fittings.
On the second floor, the spacious Studio Apartment offers plenty of room for six guests. The atelier-like character of the open, bright living and cooking area plays with patina, industrial elements and roughly plastered surfaces. The carefully curated interior provides poetic counterpoints to the rough context. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms offer a quiet and stylish retreat.
With their ‘Designtales’ blog series, the two owners have not only dedicated themselves to subtle interior design, but also to culinary delights, as demonstrated by the open-plan kitchens with centre island and bar stools, which forms the heart of both apartments. Furnished and equipped with high-quality, detailed design, they inspire the desire to cook — preferably in company.
The windows of both apartments face mainly south, bathing the rooms in soft light when the sun shines. Together with the green balconies, from which you can look out over the oak tree and across the town square to the red-brick town hall. Pretty vantage points for morning coffee or an evening aperitif.
Outside, guests can enjoy a hidden courtyard surrounded by ivy and wild vines as well as an enchanted garden with hydrangeas, fragrant lavender, all kinds of flowers, Mediterranean plants and fruit trees. The outdoor kitchen in the courtyard, complete with a large dining table and lounge furniture, invites you to barbecue or cook in the open air. After all, nothing beats hospitality in its most beautiful forms here.
