The Strandlust semi-detached house is located on the slope of an elon­gated beach dune on the North Sea island of Amrum — just a few steps away from the wide Kniepsand, with a view of the island park. With its clinker brick façade and the timber-clad cubic extension at the rear, the house blends in seam­lessly with the North Frisian land­scape. Both halves of the modern house each have an apartment, which extends from the second floor through the attic to a sleeping gallery in the loft. Two small, self-con­tained apart­ments on the first floor optio­nally extend the main apart­ments.

Due to the hillside location, the areas on the second floor also have direct access to the garden area: while the cooking and dining areas facing the cour­tyard each have a large balcony in front of them, the living rooms on the opposite side open onto a garden terrace. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of light into the sleek and modern rooms at any time of day. The interior design of the apart­ments is high-quality and con­tem­porary — sel­ected design classics and indi­vidual modern works of art on the walls set (colorful) accents. There are two bed­rooms with double beds and a bathroom on the top floor — from here, a staircase leads up to the gallery with a further two beds. From the bal­conies on the top floor and from the gallery, you have a wide view of the land­scape.

Amrum’s dune land­scape, the Wadden Sea and the sur­rounding forests and heathland offer countless leisure oppor­tu­nities. The extensive sandy beach of Wittdün is not far away, the light­house and the island vil­lages can be easily reached on foot or by bike. The center of the seaside resort of Wittdün is also always worth a visit — whether for a seafood sandwich or ice cream.

What to do

The sandy beach of Wittdün with adventure playground and beach promenade are within walking distance. Walks and bike tours to the lighthouse, the harbor on the Wadden Sea side and the island villages. The ferry terminal and the center of Wittdün with stores, cafés and restaurants are nearby. The bus stop is 100 meters from the house. Bicycle rental around the corner, the Amrumer Badeland (seawater wave pool with sauna and spa area) can be reached on foot in a few minutes.
