Villa Francioli

Summer freshness with Art Nouveau vibes: Villa Francioli sits above the western shore of Lake Maggiore, in the midst of an enchanted garden with old azaleas, camellia and palm trees. A well-balanced blend of historical elegance and contemporary design.

On the edge of the Val Grande National Park, between hiking trails and mule tracks, lies the village of Vignone, 450 metres above the lake and with a fantastic view as far as the Borromean Islands and the mountain massif of Monte Rosa. A true panoramic box seat. Also for Villa Francioli, built in 1907 as the summer residence of a Milanese merchant family and recently renovated with great care and sensitivity. Now, the spacious rooms with their high ceilings, imposing paintings and original floors shine in new splendour. From the handmade cementine tiles and herringbone oak parquet flooring on the mezzanine floor to the Pitch Pine floorboards on the upper floor. All rooms are pared down yet accentuated with views of the lake and mountains.

On the mezzanine floor, there is a large dining room with an open fireplace as well as the modernly interpreted kitchen with cooking island, which, together with the new bathrooms, forms an exciting contrast to the historic rooms. From here, you can walk directly into the garden with its entwined arbour for quiet reading hours. A natural stone staircase leads to the upper floor, whose rooms are also decorated with ceiling paintings – from the two double bedrooms to the living room, whose French doors to the south-facing balcony emphasise the imposing flair. A third double bedroom is located on the ground floor, with direct access to the garden. Here, among fragrant shrubs and trees, numerous sunny spots and shady retreats invite you to have breakfast or linger. Pure Mediterranean summer freshness.
