Villa Jones is situated in the hilly landscape of olive groves and forests in the Haut Var, the hinterland of the Cote d’Azur. Edward Jones, partner of the renowned London architecture firm Dixon Jones, and his architect wife Margot designed this holiday home for themselves and their family. Elongated and narrow, the structure follows the topography of the property, which is bordered to the north by the Col du Bel Homme ridge and by a terraced slope to the south, which leads down to the village of Bargemon. Closed on its northern side, the building opens out to the south, such that each room benefits from views of the village and the wooded hills down to the Mediterranean Sea.
At the centre of the house you will find the two-storey loggia, flanked by the living room and dining room with a kitchen on the ground floor and by the master bedroom and three other bedrooms on the first floor. To the side of the building there is the 14-metre saltwater pool and an outbuilding. And the entire ensemble is drawn together by a 60-metre pergola overgrown with wine and jasmine.
What to do
Pool, table tennis, croquet and a boules court.
Gorges du Verdon (kayaking, canoeing, hiking, climbing, Verdon Nature Park), Abbaye du Thoronet, excursions to the surrounding villages and seaside resorts of the Cote d'Azur, skiing.
