Villa Vendicari

With the glittering sea in sight and a pool in the Mediterranean garden Villa Vendicari is located in the nature reserve Vendicari in south-eastern Sicily. The building looks like it has been shaped by the wind and with its organic form it blends in well with the original landscape. Irregular, curved walls and rounded corners give the rooms a cave-like atmosphere. Due to the skylights and windows (they are positioned in a way that they catch the wind) the inside of the house is bright and pleasant. The open living, dining and kitchen area in the central part of the building opens with a large window to the sea towards the southeast. The four bedrooms are housed in an attached  wing. A second building offers a living space with kitchen area, bedroom and bathroom, and can be rented separately.

What a house! Light-flooded, round shapes and smooth surfaces (great to walk barefoot !).The scent of the Mediterranean garden pervades every corner of it and the views are endless. Guglielmo is a wonderful host who makes you fall in love with Sicily. You should follow every single suggestion – especially the one of buying fresh fish right from the boat at the Portopalo harbour! We will be back!

We really had a wonderful time at the Villa Vendicari. It’s one of the most stunning places we ever stayed, a piece of architecture and design located in a quiet and awesome landscape, with a view to the sea and not far from nice beaches and the enchanting baroque cities like Noto and Modica. And the nearby Nature Reserve is great for jogging and walking.
There is a lot of space around the house, a garden with many different trees and a perfect pool and the tree house.
In the Villa you can find many excellent design details but it is also comfortable and cosy. The terrace under a big olive tree offers you a fantastic place for outdoor living.
Guglielmo is a welcoming and perfect host, the communication was very easy and he didn’t mind to adjust to our extra wishes . Also Salvo was very kind and gave us some good tips.
All in all it was a fantastic holiday and we can only recommend this little piece of paradise.
