The 200-year-old house in the centre of the mountain village of Vidovići on the Croatian island of Cres was originally a stable, later it was expanded into a residential house and even used as a small chapel. Now it has been converted into a holiday home.
You enter the house via the terrace on the first floor and step directly into the open living room with a kitchen and dining area. A steel staircase leads down to the ground floor with a living-cum-bedroom and bathroom. Because the former cellar was not originally connected with the upper floors, the room allows separate access to the street. An open staircase connects the first and the second floors. Here you will find an anteroom with access to the sleeping gallery under the roof as well as a bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Throughout the house, modern architectural elements such as concrete and steel contrast with the fabric of the old building. The interior design follows the same principle: refurbished furniture, which dates back to the original house, has been supplemented with modern pieces.
