Situated on a southern slope of the Ammergau Alps, with a view from the Murnauer Moos to the Hörnle, the Bergland holidayn home interprets the Upper Bavarian wooden building culture in a contemporary way – with a great variety of views.
Bad Kohlgrub is not only the highest moor thermal bath in Germany, but also known for its numerous hiking trails through the foothills of the Alps. Those who stay in the mountain region start directly at the foot of the local mountain Hörnle to discover the varied nature as well as the numerous cultural sights of the region.
Outside rough-sawn spruce formwork, insulated with wood wool, inside covered with native spruce and fir. Reduced spaces with a relaxed flow. The floor plans were kept as simple as possible, with no stairwell or extra hallways. Only a narrow wooden staircase leads from the first to the second floor.
Closed to the street to the north, the flowing rooms open with large windows toward the densely wooded hills and mountains to the south. The eat-in kitchen on the first floor offers plenty of space and leads directly to the veranda. The bedroom and bathroom provide quiete retreat. The second double bedroom with bathroom is located on the upper floor, together with the pleasant living room, whose panoramic windows replace the TV and give fine views of the local mountain and the inviting landscape.
What to do
Hikes directly from the front door, e.g. to the Hörnle (approx. 1.5 hours), cycling, swimming (Staffelsee, Bayersoiener See, Kochelsee, Walchensee and Eibsee), mountain tours in the Ammergebirge or the Wetterstein mountains, cultural excursions (Murnau Castle Museum, Münter House, Oberammergau Passion Theater, Linderhof Castle, Ettal Monastery or Wieskirche Church), attractions for children (Timberland Trail in Bad Kohlgrub, Glentleiten Open-Air Museum in Großweil, summer toboggan run in Oberammergau or the Partnach Gorge in Garmisch-Partenkirchen), nature reserves in Murnauer Moos and Westlicher Staffelsee
