De Takomst IJlst

The holiday home Takomst (Frisian for future) in the Dutch town of Ijlst combines traditional Frisian architecture with modern elements and sustainable construction. The rear building, with its modest wooden facade, reflects the shape of the front brick building and is connected to it by a room fully glazed on one side. At the centre of the house you will find the kitchen with a large dining area. The rooms on the ground floor (several lounge areas and a further dining room) are connected by smooth transitions. As a result, you have open views inside the house as well as a wide view outside across the canal and over green meadows.
