The limestone walls of Domaine Le Cariol stand out brightly against the landscape of the Périgord. This magnificent country estate, surrounded by vineyards, small rivers and wide valleys, has an eventful history dating back to the 12th century.
At first glance, time seems to have stood still here. Only the shimmering turquoise pool and the expansive white parasols reveal the contemporary touches at Domaine Le Cariol. Originally a winery until 1900, later a modest farm, the ensemble has been completely renovated over the last few years and transformed into four individually designed holiday dwellings.
While La Fermette and L’ Atelier are housed in two separate annexes, La Métairie and La Foulerie occupy the main house. Despite their different layouts – sometimes spread over two floors, sometimes over one – all apartments offer space for four people and have their own terrace.
Not only the exterior appearance or the fountain in front of the house are reminiscent of times gone by, but also the interior features exposed, historic brickwork, original tiles from 1869 or 1905, aged beams, weathered doors and old floorboards. Partly preserved, partly restaged and combined with vintage pieces and modern furniture.
The colours and materials reflect the close-to-nature esprit of the property set between limestone plateaus, rivers and forests. A place out of time at every turn – from the lodgings to the idyllic garden to the pool or hot tub with a beautiful view of the French countryside.
