Heimat1883, located at the historic centre of Garmisch in Bavaria, was once the town’s almshouse. Today, you will find five modern and comfortable apartments behind its heritage listed façade. Only natural materials were used in the building’s complex refurbishment: the walls are clay-plastered and the floors are made of oak planks. The apartments are furnished with straight solid wood furniture crafted of oak or stone pine, and muted colours ensure a gentle, laid-back atmosphere. The history of the house can still very much be felt: the apartment stairwells let you see the old, exposed masonry of the building. In the apartment “Flössertochter” you can see through a window built into the floor to the vaulted cellar below, and the apartment names recall their previous owners. There are four duplex apartments with space for two to four people and one large attic apartment for up to nine people. The basement features a wellness area with a sauna, steam room and relaxation room.
