La Tannura is a small estate between the towns of Noto and Avolo in the hilly hinterland of the southeastern coast of Sicily. The old farmhouse dating to 1800 comprises three holiday homes, that are accessed via a shared courtyard. The open architecture with sleeping lofts and modern furnishings are a delightful counterpoint to the traditional flair of the old stone walls and wooden ceilings.
The Grande Apartment is 70 square metres and has a large living room with kitchen, dining area and sofa bed. The bedroom has two double beds (one is on a gallery). The 40 square metre Piccola apartment consists of one room and is equipped with a double bed and sofa bed. The also 40 sqm Apartment Nido features a sleeping gallery with double bed above the living area. Each apartment has a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean garden complete with olive trees, almond trees and flowering jasmine.
What to do
Walking, swimming (the nearest beach is 5 km away), cooking classes, stand up paddling, canoeing, trips to the baroque cities of Noto, Scicli, Modica, Ragusa, Ibla and Siracusa.
Why we like this house
Apartments with a lot of historical charm, a cosy courtyard and Mediterranean garden, quietly located, but close to many sights. Another plus point: the attentive host!

Wir haben die Woche auf dem kleinen Anwesen sehr genossen. Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet im Spannungsfeld zwischen Tradition und Moderne, der Garten eine Oase der Ruhe, Luigi immer da und hilfsbereit, wenn von uns gewünscht. Auch in der Umgebung des Anwesens gibt es mit den barocken Städten Syrakus und Noto, dem Naturschutzgebiet Pantalica mit seinen tollen Stränden viele abwechslungsreiche Seiten Siziliens zu entdecken.
