Hotel Lermooser in Tirol, Lermoos / AT – Austria

Hotel Lermooser

Next stop, Lermooser: the course was newly set for the listed railway station at the foot of the Zugspitze. Since then, the friendly hotel has been delighting guests with its bright rooms, easy-going kiosk and sustainable concept.

Anyone travelling to Lermoos by train arrives directly at their accommodation — a historic railway station that was built in 1910 as part of the Mittenwaldbahn, one of the first electrically powered railways in Europe. The building had stood empty for a long time until a couple from Munich discovered it, took it to their hearts and reimagined it as the Lermoos Hotel + Kiosk. Since then, travellers can not only get off the train in front of the listed station, but also stop for a bite to eat. Whether for a short or long holiday, as a couple or as a group, the peaceful village of Lermoos takes pride of place at the foot of the Tiroler Zugspitzarena and offers plenty of activities on and between the numerous peaks in both summer and winter.

In order to revitalise the house and integrate it into the village life, it was restored, furnished with a modern, minimalist design and converted into an individual bed & breakfast. In addition to the preservation of the existing building and the appealing location, travelling experiences also played a central role in the concept. Now guests will not only find a place to stay in one of the eight rooms. The waiting room with a cream-white tiled stove and a kiosk provides hotel guests and passers-by with selected snacks and meals throughout the day, while the well-equipped communal kitchen can be used for self-catering.

All rooms are brightly decorated and simply furnished. Whether small but nice for couples and single travellers, in the slightly larger family rooms or in the dormitory for groups of friends. Always with white oiled wood — from the furniture to the floor — and colourfully tiled bathrooms in positive pastel shades that run through the whole house. The Lermooser can also be rented as a whole for events, workshops, retreats or group excursions and offers space for up to 26 people and a fantastic panoramic view of the Alps. In the morning, guests can enjoy a regional breakfast in the large kitchen and at the kiosk, in all the common rooms there are temporary works by regional artists, on the doorstep are numerous mountain experiences and a covered terrace for breakfast or an apéritif in the evening — sometimes with morning sun, always with a view of the Zugspitze and the Sonnenspitze.
