Casual in Chiemgau: Matador Lodges

The Matador Lodges are an inspiring venue for celebrations in a relaxed atmosphere – in a quiet location, with views of Lake Chiemsee and the Chiemgau Alps.

The historical villa, once a girls’ boarding school and later the headquarters of the brand Windsurfing Chiemsee, contains four apartments connected by a double door on the ground floor. For communal dinners, guests gather at the long table in No. 1.

Up to 70 guests can celebrate here, and 26 people can stay overnight. There are also four Tiny Houses near the villa, including a tree house. The parkland with its swimming pond offers ideal conditions for summer parties; wooden sun loungers and parasols are scattered around the grounds, creating little islands of retreat. The hosts are available around the clock and, on request, can organise catering and a personalised program of activities on site and in the surrounding area.

Give socializing a go: The Landlmühle

Where old machines, millstones and boulders tell the story of the place, a model project for the sustainable development of rural areas has been established: the Landlmühle [Country Mill] – with the motto: ‘The Dorf [village (place)] to be’.

A community works here in closed loop systems as far as possible, renovating historical buildings and supplementing them with new buildings, which together form an exciting ensemble. This inspiring setting in the Bavarian Alpine foothills invites people to get together and celebrate.

There is a suitable setting for every occasion: a family celebration in the dining room or under blossoming chestnut trees at the Landl restaurant, a cultural event in the old barn, or a private party in the Achtpunktsechs [8.6] bar in the former turbine room with its industrial character and 1970s lounge furniture.

Conviviality by the lake: Kavaliershaus Schloss Blücher

The Kavaliershaus Schloss Blücher [Cavalier’s House, Blücher Castle] originally part of a castle complex dating from 1748, is located directly on Lake Fincken.

Here, you can not only celebrate the silence – the hotel with twelve suites also includes a small brick barn where guests can dine and celebrate at a long table. The patio offers a view across the lake, and the hotel’s own bathing jetty is just a few steps away through the park.

During the GDR era [East Germany], the building served as a school and then stood empty for a long time before being carefully renovated by the Nalbach family of architects. School desks and old maps are reminders of its former use and lend the ‘Klassenzimmer’ [Classroom] restaurant its special charm. Diners here enjoy creative slow food; for events, the kitchen can take care of all the catering on request.

A project with vision: Punkt.Raum in Kreuzberg

At the southern end of Friedrichstraße, where Schinkel’s observatory stood until 1912, is now Frizz23 – Germany’s first award-winning commercial building complex. Small creative businesses, hotels and educational spaces are united here in a single complex.

On the ground floor are the Punkt.Raum [Point Space] and Café Nullpunkt [Zero Point] which can be used individually or in combination, depending on the occasion. Glass surfaces, polished paving stones and exposed concrete walls characterise the urban ambience, while a golden bar and a fireplace provide warmth. In summer, the cosy garden extends the space outdoors – a sheltered outdoor area in the middle of Berlin-Kreuzberg. The eastern end is formed by a six-storey tower with 14 mini-lofts, also designed by Deadline Architekten.

A country estate in the Mecklenburg Lakes District: Lexow Manor

Lexow Manor is a wonderful place to get together. Located in the quiet village of Lexow, surrounded by meadows, fields and the many lakes of the Mecklenburg Lakes District, it offers spacious rooms and places to retreat.

The heritage listed building comprises three stylishly renovated apartments on two floors and a separate double room for a total of 24 people. The entire group can gather, cook and eat in the 90-square-meter living and dining area of the Stellmacherei apartment. A patio leads directly into the spacious garden.

The manor house also has a small guest room where breakfast, afternoon tea [Kaffee und Kuchen] and dinner are served for house and day guests. On request, the manor house kitchen can provide full catering for celebrations. For larger groups, a further 22 beds are available in the Alten Küchenhaus [Old Kitchen House] and the Stellmacherei [Wheelwright’s Workshop].

The Klausmeisterhof, a heritage listed farmhouse dating from 1740, is in a secluded location at the foot of the Unternberg, just an hour from Munich. Celebrating? With pleasure: 1280 Die Krone

The hotel 1280 Die Krone [The Crown] in Geisingen, Baden-Württemberg, is more than just a hotel: the restaurant’s dining room can be transformed into a cosy banquet hall in no time at all, and the cocktail bar in the vaulted cellar is perfect for the finale.

Foundation walls that are almost 800 years old, exposed natural stone walls and rounded arches meet contemporary architecture here.
29 rooms and suites are distributed across the former inn and several neighbouring buildings. The Spa Suite in the attic – with its open-plan design on two levels and a sauna – offers the perfect setting for special occasions or as a retreat after a celebration. On request, a tailor-made offer can be put together for events, including rooms, catering and accommodation.

‘We are a surprise package’: Das Raumquartier in Brandenburg

A cross sculpted into the façade gives the building a quiet monumentality, behind which stands Das Raumwunder [The Space Miracle]: an eight-meter-high hall with around 600 square meters of space that can be used flexibly for celebrations and events.

The project started in 2019 as a house for group and school excursions; today, the team fulfils almost every wish. ‘We learn from our guests. They show us what is possible’, says founder Josef Grosse Wiesmann, who loves to organise parties with lots of additional events – including stand-up paddle tours. The house is located in the city of Brandenburg, just a few steps from the water.
On weekends, the building, including its 36 beds, is available for rent – among them two charming caravans from the early days. During the week, the hall with its stage, kitchen and viewing galleries can be used on a daily basis for smaller events.
