Holiday home mavie

The holiday house mavie on the Greek island of Lefkada evokes asso­cia­tions with an elegant ocean liner. The building con­sists of several cubes arranged in a row, and a slightly twisted cuboid structure stacked above them.

You enter the house on the upper level, which is glazed on three sides and resembles a command bridge. From the living room with a sitting area, kitchen and dining area, you can enjoy views of the Ionian Sea, the city of Lefkada, and the mainland. The colours of the fur­nis­hings refer to the blue of the water and sky, and the green of the cypresses and pines. A spiral staircase leads to the lower level, where there is another living area as well as four bed­rooms (each with its own bathroom). These are housed within cubes and are con­nected via a long cor­ridor, which follows the sloped topo­graphy of the site with a slight cur­vature. It is lit through windows to the outside between each cube. In front of the bed­rooms, which all have sea views, there is an open portico and a terrace with a 20-metre infinity pool.

Thanks to its hillside location and shading and ven­ti­lation faci­lities, mavie does not require air con­di­tioning in summer. In winter, under­floor heating pro­vides warmth.

What to do

Beaches, windsurfing and kitesurfing, a marina in the town of Lefkada, hiking, cycling, visiting the surrounding mountain villages. The island is connected to the mainland via a swing bridge.
