Far away from the hustle and bustle! This holiday home can be found in a secluded spot in the unspoiled countryside of the Finnish region of Karelia: in the middle of a forest and directly by lake Santara. The property consists of a residential house and sauna connected by a terrace. Thanks to their elevated position, both the house and sauna offer beautiful, wide views of the lake.
The building was mainly constructed of timber from trees that grew on the property. With its black colour, it seems to fuse with the surroundings and when the shutters are closed it has a barn-like character. In contrast to its dark façade, the interior space is bright and friendly. The floor plan is open, but the bedrooms (with a double bed and a high bed) can be separated with sliding elements. The floors, walls and ceilings are made of wood, but its minimalist interior design lends the house a modern look and feel throughout – far from rustic!
What to do
Fishing, a rowing-boat, blueberry and mushroom picking, relaxing in the sauna, hiking, ice fishing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, etc.
