A rural idyll behind the dike: For more than 20 years the old rectory dating to 1865 was empty and it had fallen into disrepair, now it shines a sunny yellow and invites guests to enjoy relaxing holidays. The lovingly renovated building with designs from the late Biedermeier era features three apartments of different sizes: The apartments “pond” for 2 people and “garden” for 4 people on the ground floor, and the apartment “Elbe river” under the historic roof with space for 7 people.
The original state of the historic building has been restored as far as possible using traditional craft techniques and materials. The saddle roofs covered with plain tiles laid in historic crown formation, the fieldstone cellar, originally preserved floorboards, doors, windows and fittings, and even the laundry room with a fireplace make up the new old charme of the former vicarage. Earth and lime plaster walls, stoves, the elegant country decor and a reserved colour palette create a relaxed, homely atmosphere. And the location of the house, surrounded by a picturesque park and directly behind the dike of the river Elbe, will put stressed city dwellers into recovery mode very quickly.

Owner
These two Hanoverian photographers lost their hearts in the Prignitz. It was purely by chance that Volker Warning and Frîa Hagen discovered this old, dilapidated rectory dating back to 1865 on the Elbe dyke about 20 years ago. But it was not until 2011, after a long period of vacancy and shortly before it was entirely overgrown by blackberries, that they finally restored the rectory - with a great deal of passion and attention to detail.
The two now also run the Pension "Elbeglück" with a garden restaurant in Mödlich.
