Schmarsow Castle, located south of the Hanseatic city of Demmin in Vorpommern, was built in 1698 and is one of the oldest buildings in the region. Carefully renovated in 2006, it is now not only home oto its owners, but also a place where holiday guests can leave the stress and hectic pace of everyday life behind in a historical setting and rural environment. In the west wing of the building, overlooking the castle pond, there are four flats, which are furnished according to the historical model and keep the character of the old mansion alive. Their names – Blue, Green, Yellow and Marble – show the individual room concepts. The castle flats are ideal for couples or families (up to four persons). For larger families or groups, the lovingly renovated Kavaliershaus with a view of the castle opposite or the former gardener’s house, which is 100 metres away behind a small sheep pasture, are suitable.

Andrea Ruiken-Fabich is co-owner of the Berlin office Ruiken & Vetter architects which was founded in 1985 and currently has nine employees.
