House Schwarzwaldstrand, on the outskirts of Bad Herrenalb, reflects the love of the owner — a trained timber boat builder — of wood and water. The massive wooden building, constructed according to ecological criteria, is located on an almost triangular plot, bordered on its long side by the river Alb. The 50-meter-long river bank has been carefully redesigned and integrated into the design of the garden.
The house consists of three L‑shaped units: two are located on the ground floor while the third one is on the upper floor, providing access to the river via an exterior staircase. These units are connected by a large entrance hall, which offers guests the opportunity to meet up or even celebrate. The 75 square meter apartments have practically identical floor plans: one wing features two bedrooms, the other an open space for living, eating and cooking. These rooms open out with large windows to the south-facing terrace and offer views of the river and wooded slope. The L‑shaped designs mean each terrace is scarcely overlooked by its neighbours, offering a maximum privacy. The apartments are characterized by the striking contrast of bright walls and ceilings of white-lacquered solid timber boards and dark floors of anthracite-coloured stoneware.
What to do
There are cycling and hiking trails in the immediate vicinity. The heated forest swimming pool is 100 meters away. The city can be reached on foot in 10 minutes.
Why we like this house
The L-shaped ground plan makes optimal use of the property. Each apartment benefits from the view of the river and offers as much privacy as possible. With its spacious entrance hall, the house is also suitable for joint holidays of several families.

We are a Dutch-German couple and have a daughter Stella. Lucie, originally a dance and yoga teacher, has more and more turned into purely a host. Sebastian, a qualified builder of wooden boats, is managing director of an engineering office, and Stella is studying social science. Everything that has proven itself in our first holiday home, the Bahnwärterhaus in the Vogtland region, we also incorporated in the Schwarzwaldstrand, this time however in a house with several apartments. It is just as we would like it to be for the gatherings of our large family: enough space for getting together, on the one hand, and for taking time out, on the other. In an individual apartment, by contrast, one is completely independent and undisturbed as an individual or small group.

Wir haben über den 1. Mai 2024 zu elft alle 3 Wohnungen angemietet und eine wunderbare Zeit am Schwarzwaldstrand verbracht. Die Wohnungen sind top eingerichtet und die Architektur sehr ansprechend. Auch die Wanderungen rund um Bad Herrenalb waren direkt vom Schwarzwaldstrand zu erreichen . Unbedingt empfehlenswert.
Wir hatten ein tolles Wochenende zusammen mit unseren Freunden (insgesamt 4 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder) verbracht. Das Haus ist wunderschön, die Küche ist perfekt eingerichtet, die Betten sind bequem, die Lage ist toll. Wir haben auch eine aufmerksame und warme Betreuung erlebt (zB die Kids haben Schlitten zur Verfügung bekommen)

Wir waren mit 12 Erwachsenen + Kindern am Schwarzwaldstrand und sind begeistert von diesem schönen Ferienhaus. Die Ausstattung ist gut durchdacht und es fehlt an nichts. Der Aufenthaltsraum und die separaten Wohnzimmer sind geräumig. Die Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll und der Garten und Umgebung bieten wunderschöne Natur. Direkt hinter dem Haus geht ein Wanderweg durch den Wald los. Die Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und die Organisation unkompliziert. Wir würden uns freuen wiederzukommen!
Der Schwarzwaldstrand hat seinen Namen völlig zurecht. Wir haben die Abende am Lagerfeuer mit den Füßen im Sand bei rauschendem Bach sehr genossen. Die Wohnung ließ keine Wünsche offen und ist stilvoll und durchdacht eingerichtet. Die tolle Architektur hat es uns ermöglicht, unsere Kinder zu jeder Zeit im Blick zu haben — egal ob im Wohnzimmer, auf der Terrasse, auf dem Rasen oder im Sand. Das nebenan liegende Freibad ist immer einen Besuch wert und Bad Herrenalb hat eine tolle Lage, um zu kurzen Tagesausflügen zu starten. Vielen Dank an Frau Moormann für ihre fürsorgliche Betreuung.
Wir haben ein sehr schönes Wochenende mit drei kleinen Kindern hier verbracht, die vom “Strand” am Flußlauf mehr als angetan waren (entspannte Kinder = entspannte Erwachsene). Ausstattung und Ambiente sind hervorragend.
Ist ein Traum. Waren mit drei Famillien und 4 Kindern dort. Perfekt eingerichtet mit allem was man braucht, in herrlicher Lage, grandiose Architektur. Und einen Strand gibt es wirklich.
Haben bereits für nächstes Jahr gebucht.
