The former water tower in Solingen-Gräfrath serves – in the truest sense of the word – as a shining example of the transformation of an old industrial monument. In place of the original water reservoir, a glass dome sits enthroned on the 17-metre-high tower shaft, offering a sweeping view over the Bergisches Land region. The internationally renowned lighting designer Johannes Dinnebier acquired the tower in the 1990s and had it converted in the style of the glass dome of the Dresden Art Academy. Together with her husband, his daughter Jule has turned the light tower into an extraordinary venue for events. The glass dome and lounge below can be booked for events, workshops, cultural events and private celebrations. Civil weddings are also possible here. The light tower is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting technology and serves as a showroom for the Dinnebier Licht company.
