Wasserkoog is considered one of the most beautiful villages on the Eiderstedt peninsula. There are old farmhouses surrounded by the typical North Frisian landscape with meadows, pastures and a wide horizon. And on the dike on the edge of the village you will find a residence that combines the flair of a historic thatched house with modern design. The Tetenbüllspieker, which was built in 1750 as a customs station, used to be the village inn and was in a desolate state when Sebastian Mörsch and André Schäfer bought the building. After the extensive restoration of the cultural monument, it now accommodates the owners’ home in the front part and a holiday home at the back—both completely separated from each other with separate entrances.
Old and new enter into a harmonious liaison in the Tetenbüllspieker: a typical Dutch door (Klönschnacktür; Low German for “chitchat door”), old stable doors, rustic ceiling beams and a baroque farmer’s bench are combined with a high-quality, well-equipped kitchen with a cooking island, modern bathrooms and furniture including many design classics. On the ground floor of the 100-sqm apartment there is a large kitchen-living room, a bedroom with access to the terrace and a bathroom. Under the roof is the open-plan living quarters with sitting area and a double bed and another bathroom. A steep ladder leads to the attic with an additional sleeping area. Looking out of the windows, guests can see across the expansive landscape, watch grazing sheep and cows and look at the large garden with fruit trees and a greenhouse that can also be used as a tea house.
What to do
A bathing area in the old harbour basin is located 500 metres from the house. The wide sandy beaches of St. Peter-Ording can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Cycling (5 bicycles are available to guests), hiking, swimming, (kite) surfing, boat trips, golf, horse riding, bird watching, excursions to the villages and towns in the area (Tetenbüll, Garding, St. Peter-Ording, Husum, Tönning, Friedrichstadt, Westerhever lighthouse), various organic farm shops in the surroundings.
Why we like this house
We like the mixture of historical ambience and modern design, plus the location on the dike and the large garden. The comprehensive equipment is great: from spices and games to a towel for the dog, everything is provided.
This house is great for
Families with children or for couples who are looking for relaxation and tranquillity.
