Old meets new – in the hills of Styria, surrounded by meadows and forests, a 200-year-old farmhouse was juxtaposed with a modern glass building. The extension literally huddles against the slope with a 40-metre-long stone wall built by hand. Due to its lightness, the elongated building adds an exciting contrast to the dark timber house with its overhanging, heavy roof.
The glass extension houses the living-dining area with the adjoining open-plan kitchen and a bedroom with an en suite bathroom. The rooms, which are fully glazed on three sides, afford magnificent views of nature. The 55,000-square-metre property guarantees plenty of privacy. The traditional farmhouse was thoroughly renovated, the old timber was refurbished and carefully returned to its original position. It accommodates another bedroom with an original wood-burning stove and a large bathroom with a free-standing bathtub and panoramic shower. The mixture of traditional and high-quality materials such as linen and oak wood as well as warm and earthy colours create a natural and cosy ambience, while the heated pool with the adjoining sauna ensure utmost well-being.
Haus Grabenschake is one of the PURESLeben holiday homes, all of which are surrounded by meadows, vineyards or orchards and situated in southern Styria. Breakfast is delivered to the house every morning, and culinary delights and other experience packages can be booked additionally.
