Kliffhuus in the Nieblumer district of Goting on the North Sea island of Föhr is sure to surprise you. From the outside, you will not expect its spaciousness and only notice at a second glance that the house is built as a split-level construction. There are, in fact, four levels in this small gable roof house. The arrangement of the floors, shifted by half a level in each case, creates a flowing set of spaces that are separate yet connected by visual relationships.
Beginning from the basement level with a sauna and rest area, the kitchen with a dining area located in the sous terrain leads up to the entrance level with the central living room (with a sofa-bed). Further up, you will find the bedroom and bathroom and, on the very top level, a retreat under the gable roof. The rooms, which are laid with Oeland tiles and oiled wood floors, have a bright, friendly ambience thanks to their white palette and multiple windows. The living room offers views in all directions, opening out to the garden on three sides with floor-to-ceiling windows. You can also enjoy these views from the kitchen level. The antique Swedish stove, unique textiles and accessories in finely tuned colours as well as the selection of artworks add flair to the restrained modern interiors.
What to do
The sauna, the nearby beach (300m from the house – there is also a playground and a café), beach walks, swimming, water sports (surfing, kite-surfing, SUP), mudflat walks, cycling, horse riding, golf, boat trips to the Halligen islands, museums, mini golf. The centre of Nieblum with restaurants, cafés and shops is 2 km away.
Why we like this house
The house makes wonderful use of its space, offering open living and relaxation areas. The location near the shore and beach is perfect for North Sea holidays. With its fireplace and sauna, it’s also nice for holidays in the colder season.
This house is great for
Couples and families (however, due to the many levels and stairs, the house is not suitable for toddlers).
