La vie en rose — Art-nouveau in the Algarve

The BauNetz edi­torial team tells the story of the con­version of a listed ruin in Faro into a resi­dential building with an archi­tec­tural office and two holiday flats. With Casa 1923, architect Vânia Brito Fer­nandes, who tog­ether with her office PAr Pla­ta­forma de Arqui­tectura is also respon­sible for the con­version of Casa Modesta, among other things, has created a great deal of poetic mini­malism behind the artistic façade.

Anyone inte­rested in the archi­tec­tural heritage of ‘South Modern’ and Art Deco in Faro should also keep an eye on the creators of The Modernist. They organise an annual Modernist Weekend in Faro and have created their own city guide to num­erous sights.
