Alluvial forest and litter meadows as far as the eye can see, with Lake Chiemsee glistening in the distance – the Schneeganserhof occupies an exclusive box seat. And it has done so for many hundreds of years. Renovated to be summer-fresh and winter-proof, it offers a holiday accommodation for two in the former barn.
Where the Tiroler Ache flows into the Chiemsee, an extraordinary inland delta opens up, whose nature is not only a paradise for rare plants and birds, but also for those seeking peace and quiet. In the middle of it all lies the Schneeganserhof, whose origins date back to 1512 and which owes its current secluded location to the landscape conservation reserve that extends around the 15-hectare estate – including a bird-watching tower.
The holiday apartment is located on the ground floor of the old barn, which has been renovated from the ground up and transformed into a tasteful dwelling with a modern, simple design, lots of wood and warm colours. The apartment has a bright hallway with plenty of storage space, a well-equipped open kitchen, a spacious living room and a comfortable bedroom with a desk niche, as well as a bathroom and its own sauna. The most beautiful far-reaching view, however, is through the large glass door in the living room, which leads directly onto the spacious south-west terrace and captures the entire backdrop of Hirschauer Bucht, Wilder Kaiser and the Bavarian foothills of the Alps.
The property is surrounded by a vast garden with orchard, farm yard and organically cultivated meadows and forest. A wonderful place to unwind. If you want to set off for new shores in the meantime, simply walk or cycle through the gate towards the lake and you’ll find yourself directly on the circular trail.
