The Kavaliershaus [Cavalier’s House] at Lake Fincken in the Mecklenburg Lake District has served various purposes throughout its history. The building, constructed in the 18th century, initially served as a residential and administrative building and later as a village school. In times of the former GDR, it accommodated the fire department and a youth club before being extensively renovated and converted into an apartment hotel by the Berlin-based architectural couple Johanne and Gernot Nalbach. In addition to the twelve apartments, there is a brick barn with wooden shutters on the garden side. From the terrace, guests have a view of the lake, and a path through the large park leads to the hotel’s private bathing jetty. The Blücher Scheune [Blücher Barn] with an open fireplace is suitable for private celebrations, receptions or weddings. Civil and church weddings can take place in the immediate vicinity. Besides that, the Kavaliershaus is also ideal for work meetings. In addition to the barn, the generously sized living spaces of the apartments can be used for meetings involving a smaller number of people. The rooms of the former village school house the “Klassenzimmer” [Classroom] restaurant, which serves breakfast and provides full catering.
