Denharten is a place that leaves no guest untouched. A place where you can think, retreat or celebrate together, far away from the hustle and bustle of the world. The listed four-sided farmstead in Rottal-Inn in Lower Bavaria offers an extraordinary setting for this – clearly influenced by the determination of the hosts, who have brought the historic substance into the present day with great sensitivity. Built around 1850, exposed brickwork, white window frames and views of the open countryside still define its character.
The farmstead was gradually renovated with great respect for the existing architecture. At its centre stands the main house with its fireplace room, library and vaulted hall. In the cooler months or when it is particularly hot in summer, the mighty vaults reveal their special qualities: they ground, protect and create a concentrated, almost timeless atmosphere. Throughout the house, old and new engage in a subtle dialogue without overshadowing each other. No element is loud; everything responds sensitively to each other without ever being random. The ensemble is complemented by the partially open barn, the courtyard and the cottage garden – spaces for celebrations, seminars, cultural events and communal dining at long tables.
Hospitality in many respects is authentically lived at Denharten – minimalist, warm and of high quality. The owner couple lives on site and is available to address any questions or requests. The space is aimed at anyone looking for a focused atmosphere in a small group or for a few pleasant days in the countryside for holiday or an event with a larger group. But no matter what: the spirit of careful transformation that has shaped the farm over the past ten years is now also changing the people who stay here for a while.
The farm has won several awards for its extensive restoration and heritage-friendly use. Denharten is, so to speak, a piece of Lower Bavarian culture in built form, as the newly designed four-sided farmstead stands for conviviality, a sense of tradition, down-to-earthness and hospitality in equal measure.
