If you are looking for a spectacular and unusual setting for a celebration or event, the old church in Bernkastel-Wehlen on the Moselle is definitely the right place for you. Built in 1669, the church has been in use for a hundred years – when it became too small for the town – initially as a home for the poor and later as a kindergarten, clubhouse or living space. Anke Nuxoll-Oster, who is passionate about converting unusual properties, whether as holiday homes or event locations, turned it into a “place to stay”. The church offers space for holidays and meetings on several levels: the eight-metre-high church interior is equipped with an open, industrial-style kitchen and can be used as a dining or a seminar room. A large, deliberately simple living room in the nave, which also has several bedrooms and bathrooms, is ideal for group activities such as yoga courses or workshops. The modern furnishings of the rooms contrast and harmonise with the old stone walls, vaulted ceilings and wall niches. Ideal for bridal couples: the church is an authorised branch of the Bernkastel registry office.
