The Seehotel [Lake Hotel] on the shores of Lake Neuklostersee, not far from the Hanseatic city of Wismar, is an idyllic country hotel that offers a successful balance between the romance of nature and modern architecture. The nine buildings form an exciting ensemble of historical houses and new buildings with a deliberately minimalist design. The thatched Kunstscheune [Art Barn] from the 19th century is a popular venue for concerts, readings and theatre performances, e.g. for the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival. The large, two-storey room with its surrounding gallery is also ideal for private celebrations and conferences. Pianists can sit down at the Steinway grand piano and literature fans can browse through the library. When the weather is fine, the large garden with its long table provides the perfect setting for receptions and dinners. The Bootshaus [boathouse] is a good alternative for smaller groups. In keeping with its name, it is located directly on the shore and the glazed gable end offers a wonderful view of the lake. The restaurant in the brick building has been awarded the Bip Gourmand and the cuisine is based on the Slow Food philosophy.
