Apartment Loft Atelier 16 in Leipzig / DE – Germany, Saxony

Apartment Loft Atelier 16

The Loft Atelier 16, located in an old factory in the west of Leipzig, plays with contrasts and skilfully achieves a balance between cool and cosy. The raw brick walls generate a warm atmosphere in the 56-square-metre flat, where some details still recall its past as an industrial building. In the living area, a blue velvet sofa is both an eye-catcher and a call to relax. The open-plan kitchen and the communicative round table invite guests to cook and eat together. The sleeping area with a box-spring bed is slightly separated and thus conveys a sense of security. The walls are hung with works by contemporary artists, most of whom are from Leipzig. Some are neighbours, as the old factory building is now used as a studio building with artists’ workshops, galleries and holiday aparmtments.
Please note: On the same site there is a second studio house in the administration building of the former printing ink factory, which belongs to the same owners. Birgit and Mathias Mahnke have dedicated themselves to the revitalisation of old industrial buildings with creative uses. In addition to the two houses in Leipzig, they have also transformed an old pasta factory in Zeitz into a place for the arts.
