Holiday home Eremo is perched on a hill above the nor­thern Italian harbour town of Imperia, on the so called “Riviera”. Situated, as though on a viewing platform, on the edge of a cen­turies-old pine forest, the house offers an impressive pan­o­ramic view over the city and the Ligurian sea.

Lake Orta is con­sidered the most romantic of nor­thern Italy’s sub-Alpine lakes. On its eastern shore – just above the town of Orta – la Darbia is set into an idyllic hillside and cele­brates la dolce vita in Piedmont.

La Vign­a­rella holiday home in the north-east of Corsica lies directly behind the dunes and merges almost seam­lessly with the beach. The modern archi­tecture of this house har­mo­nises per­fectly with its sur­roun­dings.

Casa Salvati is part of an ensemble of three holiday homes built by the archi­tects Alberto Salvati and Ambrogio Tre­soldi in 1972 on a hill on the western shore of Lake Garda. An important element of Salvati and Tresoldi’s work was the use of colour.

In a remote location among the Ligurian moun­tains, Che Bella Vista is situated on an old vineyard sur­rounded by dry stone walls. The house in typical regional archi­tec­tural lan­guage forms a calming con­trast to the topo­graphy and vege­tation of the sur­roun­dings.

The Camino de Playa is located on the edge of the Galician nature reserve of Costa da Vela, near a kilo­meter-long sandy beach. From the outside, the house has a tra­di­tional appearance; from the inside, it is empha­ti­cally modern.

The planning of the Recharge House, which is located around 600 metres from the sea, was signi­fi­cantly influenced by its location close to a small lake. The ensemble con­sists of a main house and an out­building.

In the Danish coastal region of Odsherred, architect and designer Leif Jør­gensen and his wife, designer Mette Bache, have (re)built an ensemble of three houses with great attention to every detail: Farm House, Barn House and Shelter.

The holiday home in the Thy National Park on the Danish North Sea coast hides in nature due to its green roofs extending deep down. As the glazed front and back facades allow views right through the house, it seems to merge with its sur­roun­dings.
