As every year, at the beginning of January we publish the holiday domiciles that our readers particularly liked last year. The ranking is determined by how often a post was read.
In the second part of our Best of series you will find the most popular international houses.
On the Danish island of Møn in the midst of wild meadows and pastures, the consistently modern house Black+Bright skillfully plays with contrasts and rests above all in itself.
Holiday home Eremo is perched on a hill above the northern Italian harbour town of Imperia, on the so called “Riviera”. Situated, as though on a viewing platform, on the edge of a centuries-old pine forest, the house offers an impressive panoramic view over the city and the Ligurian sea.
La Vignarella holiday home in the north-east of Corsica lies directly behind the dunes and merges almost seamlessly with the beach. The modern architecture of this house harmonises perfectly with its surroundings.
The fishing village of Klitmøller is the centre of Cold Hawaii, a stretch of coast in the north-west of Denmark that is very popular with surfers. If you want to surf, it’s not far from the holiday home – the beach is only 450 metres away.
Casa Morelli is situated in a panoramic location on a hill in the heart of Chianti Classico in the municipality of Radda. The typical Tuscan country house has been restored and converted into a vacation home.
Kalli thea means great view – and the Kallithea Villas keep what their name promises. The seven villas on a green slope in the south of the Pelion Peninsula afford magnificent views of the Aegean Sea, the bay and the idyllic fishing village of Platanias.
With panoramic views of the bay of Soller and the mountains, Cingle 30 is located on a steep slope in the coastal town of Port de Soller. It consists of a concrete cube that rises above a substructure with traditional quarry stone walls.
High above Merano, the Miramonti Boutique Hotel has been offering a stylish place for nature and design lovers for many years. The three individually designed wooden houses of the Monti House complement the ensemble, offering understated luxury – and a spectacular view of the mountains.
The planning of the Recharge House, which is located around 600 metres from the sea, was significantly influenced by its location close to a small lake. The ensemble consists of a main house and an outbuilding.
Agritourism in modern form: At the Vivere you won´t spend your holiday on a rustic farm, but in an elegant design hotel amidst vineyards and olive groves. A perfect starting point for a holiday on Lake Garda.
Situated by the North Sea, near fjords, lakes and dunes, this holiday home interacts with its natural environment and integrates qualities of simple living.
Surrounded by sand dunes the exclusive holiday home is located just 400 meters from Portugal’s most loved beach Praia do Pego. A composition of concrete and glass with plenty of views and privacy.
La Mugletta is a modern B&B in the Euganean hills of Northern Italy, not far from Padua, Vicenza and Venice. The interplay of nature and architecture was integral to the design of the building.
Lake Orta is considered the most romantic of northern Italy’s sub-Alpine lakes. On its eastern shore – just above the town of Orta – la Darbia is set into an idyllic hillside and celebrates la dolce vita in Piedmont.
The Camino de Playa is located on the edge of the Galician nature reserve of Costa da Vela, near a kilometer-long sandy beach. From the outside, the house has a traditional appearance; from the inside, it is emphatically modern.
Le Marche in central Italy is not as well known as nearby Tuscany, but is a hot tip for travelers in Italy. The Borgo Tranquillo looks traditional from the outside, but inside it has a modern loft style with individually designed apartments.
Mountains in sight: the Stelzenhaus (stilt house) at the foot of the Chiemgau Alps is a ‘tree house’ for anyone looking to get away from it all. The result is relaxation for the senses surrounded by greenery.
“If you don’t want to see another soul for a while …” – that was once the slogan of a rather little-known German holiday region. Behind it lies a very understandable desire, one that can be fulfilled in many places across Europe.
As we do every year, in mid-January we publish the holiday homes and spaces that our readers particularly liked last year. The ranking is based on how often an entry was read and how many positive comments the property received.
